the power trio hailing from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada is thrilled to
announce the release of their debut EP titled "Dynamite Hut". This record marks a
significant milestone for the band as they fulfill their long-time dream of having their music
pressed to vinyl which will be available in early summer.

Lead singer and songwriter Jay Knelsen delves
into the overarching theme of the EP, stating, "A
lot of these songs deal with general frustrations
of personal relationships. I am also a huge movie
buff and tend to pull from movies to help me get
in the headspace of someone else." Drawing
inspiration from films like Blue Velvet (Lynch,
1986) and Trainspotting (Boyle, 1996) "Dynamite
Hut" offers a rich tapestry of emotions, from
longing and desire to introspection and love.
The inspiration behind "Dynamite Hut" stems
from Real Kevin's desire to capture the raw
energy and emotion of their live performances in
a studio setting. The EP features five high-energy,
up front and in your face tracks that have
become staples of their live set. “Our hope with
any recording is to make people feel like “I gotta
go see these guys”, everything we do is in service
of having the chance to perform and prove
ourselves”.

Reflecting on the recording sessions, the band
reveals, "This was the first time we’ve had the
chance to go live without ghost tracks
prerecorded to a click track...It was definitely
pretty funny to have amps out of the room to get
a clean drum sound and have to whisper-sing all
the drum-less vocal parts”.

Among the standout tracks is "Way," a long-
standing favorite among fans that has finally

received its recorded debut. Real Kevin hopes
that listeners will not only be drawn to the
infectious raw energy of their music but also feel
a connection to the emotions and experiences
conveyed in each song.

Looking ahead, Real Kevin is already hard at
work on new material, exploring the realms of
shoegaze and Brit-pop while staying true to their
alternative roots. With a wealth of demos waiting
to be brought to life, the band remains
committed to pushing the boundaries of their
sound and delivering captivating performances
for their growing fanbase.

As Real Kevin continues on their musical journey,
they hope that listeners will find solace,
inspiration, and a sense of belonging in their
music. "If we’re being greedy and overly
hopeful," says the band, "it is that we’re creating
something that needs to be experienced and is
worthy of their time."
